The test system uses latex particles coated with specific antibodies against Staphylococcus aureus. When the coated latex particles are mixed with a sample containing the corresponding Staphylococcus or their antigens, the antibodies bind to the bacteria. This causes the particles to clump together, forming visible aggregates that can be seen with the naked eye.
