The membrane, made of expanded PTFE with a pore size of 0.2 μm enables a sterile gas exchange and prevents aqueous liquids with high surface tension from passing through it.
During the autoclaving process, the caps can be securely screwed on to the laboratory glass bottles.
Autoclavable at 121 °C (20 minutes) or 134 °C (3 minutes).
Applications:
- Pressure equalisation during steam sterilisation/autoclaving of media or buffer solutions in bottles up to a volume of 5 litres
- Sterile gas exchange for aerobic micro-organism, shaken and suspended cell cultures
- Short-term storage of sterilised media
- Storage of gas-forming substances
