The test system uses latex particles coated with specific antibodies against Legionella. REAG TEST L1 detects Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1.REAG TEST L2-15 detects Legionella pneumophila serogroups 2 to 15. REAG TEST LSPP detects 10 commonly occurring Legionella species, including L. micdadei, L. bozemanii, L. dumoffii, L. longbeachae, L. jordanis, L. anisa, and L. feelei. When the coated latex particles are mixed with a sample containing the corresponding Legionella or their antigens, the antibodies bind to the bacteria. This causes the particles to clump together, forming visible aggregates that can be seen with the naked eye.
